Thanks to God – 50th Edition

A nice summary of things came to me in the night from the Higher Self (I hesitate to say “my” HS, it’s the aspect of consciousness that just knows without words and is outside of space and time.)

“God experiences Life through each of us, and we experience Life thanks to God.”

I think it sums up so much, how all of life is integrated, and how gratitude is key to happiness and to wholeness.

I suggest to meditate on that connection, daily, with joy in your heart.

God is Love is Life is Truth.

So be glad and you will achieve enlightenment. You don’t have to go to Tibet or follow any guru. Just accept the truth of Oneness. And be glad.

Heart to Heart moves forward – 49th Edition

Wallace Huey was our first Heart to Heart coach, after he contacted me with the idea about four years ago, to have a free life coaching service with Q&As that would be published in the newsletter. The Life Challenges that the questioners presented turned out to be the basis of a new reorganisation of the site, and Wallace came on board as a co-director of Trans4mind. And then he became so busy running the Trans4mind Network of international sites, that we needed a new coach…

Lo and behold, Maurice Turmel got in touch at the precise moment of need and offered his services. After six months of coaching online, he too became so busy working on his own projects – in particular the Ascension Training Centre – that he had to move on. He contributed a great deal and it was a pleasure working with him. I hope we’ll aways be friends.

We asked in the Newsletter for experienced coaches to apply for the H2H position and received 10 first-class applications, all of whom I reckon would have been good. Nevertheless, we have chosen Phil Evans from Australia (who runs the People Stuff site) and Dr. Doris Jeanette, a long-time Newsletter contributor, who is founder of the Center for New Psychology. I’m very pleased with both of their work and grateful for the synchronicities that have brought such a like-minded group of people together, that we have working now at Trans4mind. Voluntarily giving their service, I might add.

Wallace has started a new project in Dublin called Money Max. He is offering Dubliners who feel in a financial tight corner (and who doesn’t in Dublin at the moment?) the financial know-how and training to needed to reverse their fortunes. And upon this model – which incorporates personal development as an essential element – he anticipates expanding world-wide, in the same way that Trans4mind has done, since the need is indeed felt everywhere.

Our work on the Network continues to bear fruit as the site in Hindi now comes online: Trans4mind.in. Of course the real work has been put in by the service provider in India, GopiKrishnan, who has huge ambitions for the site in the coming years. It’s thrilling to see this occur.

Next Spring we plan a get-together of the Trans4mind service providers here in France. We’ll make it a 10-day workshop to which all contribute, with cuisine from France, England, Germany, Italy, India, China, Lebanon, Hungary, Ireland and Mexico.

I think, therefore I am – am I? – 48th Edition

“I think, therefore I am.”

Ironic really how this great philosophic truth turns out to be so wrong…

I am therefore I think. Because I need to, as a spiritual being living and solving the problems of the human physical experience. But then I am not, at least not as that original I – I have become the thinker.

The real me isn’t the thinking ego, neither is it my physical emotions. Neither left nor right brain, more abstract than that… It’s a silent witness in the background, in no time and no space, the higher self that just knows. An all-loving essence, inseparable from God. In truth, One with All.

Namaste.

Old Testament abominations – 47th Edition

In her radio show, Dr Laura Schlesinger said that, as an observant Orthodox Jew, homosexuality is an abomination according to Leviticus 18:22, and cannot be condoned under any circumstance. The following response is an open letter to Dr. Laura, penned by a US resident, which was posted on the Internet. It’s funny, as well as informative:

Dear Dr. Laura:

Thank you for doing so much to educate people regarding God’s Law. I have learned a great deal from your show, and try to share that knowledge with as many people as I can. When someone tries to defend the homosexual lifestyle, for example, I simply remind them that Leviticus 18:22 clearly states it to be an abomination … End of debate.

I do need some advice from you, however, regarding some other elements of God’s Laws and how to follow them.

1. Leviticus 25:44 states that I may possess slaves, both male and female, provided they are purchased from neighbouring nations. A friend of mine claims that this applies to Mexicans, but not Canadians. Can you clarify? Why can’t I own Canadians?

2. I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her?

3. I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her period of Menstrual uncleanliness – Lev.15: 19-24. The problem is how do I tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offense.

4. When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odor for the Lord – Lev.1:9. The problem is my neighbors. They claim the odor is not pleasing to them. Should I smite them?

5. I have a neighbor who insists on working on the Sabbath.Exodus35:2 clearly states he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself, or should I ask the police to do it?

6. A friend of mine feels that even though eating shellfish is an abomination, Lev. 11:10, it is a lesser abomination than homosexuality. I don’t agree. Can you settle this? Are there ‘degrees’ of abomination?

7. Lev. 21:20 states that I may not approach the altar of God if I have a defect in my sight. I have to admit that I wear reading glasses. Does my vision have to be 20/20, or is there some wiggle-room here?

8. Most of my male friends get their hair trimmed, including thehair around their temples, even though this is expressly forbidden by Lev. 19:27. How should they die?

9. I know from Lev. 11:6-8 that touching the skin of a dead pig makes me unclean, but may I still play football if I wear gloves?

10. My uncle has a farm. He violates Lev.19:19 by planting two different crops in the same field, as does his wife by wearing garments made of two different kinds of thread (cotton/polyester blend). He also tends to curse and blaspheme a lot. Is it really necessary that we go to all the trouble of getting the whole town together to stone them? Lev.24:10-16. Couldn’t we just burn them to death at a private family affair, like we do with people who sleep with their in-laws? (Lev. 20:14)

I know you have studied these things extensively and thus enjoy considerable expertise in such matters, so I’m confident you can help.

Thank you again for reminding us that God’s word is eternal and unchanging.

Your adoring fan.

James M. Kauffman, Ed.D. Professor Emeritus, Dept. Of Curriculum, Instruction, and Special Education University of Virginia

My Soul Healing Session – 46th Edition

Each month in the Trans4mind Newsletter we include the next episode of a 40-part series by Carolyn Evers, ending in Autumn 2012. The series will then be widely released in December 2012 as a freely available ebook, so as many people as possible will understand how they can participate in the Ascension – the transformation of the human race to become guided by and one with Unconditional Love in nature and being. You can read the articles to date here on Trans4mind: Ascension Series.

I recently undertook a Soul Healing session with both Carolyn and her colleague Richard Presser. It was a remarkable experience and this is the testimonial I sent them…

Having “sat in” on the session of my French wife Nicole, to help with any language misunderstandings, I knew what to expect with my own Soul Healing. But how different to take part myself! It was one of the most profound and illuminating experiences of my life. Carolyn and Richard are so good at their jobs, they explain and teach so clearly, in a friendly and patient way, and the session is above all a learning experience – even for someone who thought he knew “all about” his past and what’s what, little did I know what was in store for me and the new skills I would learn so quickly and effectively. Most surprising for me was the presence of extra-terrestrials who knew me from my time before this planet and Buddhists who were teachers from my time as a monk over a thousand years ago. I felt their presence as warm hands on my head and back as well – so incredibly moving: they and many others cared enough to come. Father God confirmed some things I already knew – my participation as an apostle and leader of the early Christian Church, and my mission in this life to aid in the Ascension of Mankind – but hearing this from such a source was again, incredibly heart-warming. And Mary, like Carolyn, a sweetheart – one can only love such beautiful beings. Richard did my Karmic Clearing… an oppressive weight (that I hadn’t even realized was there before) lifted from my head and shoulders as fear and self-doubt dissipated and were no longer part of my identity. The best point: when I had learned how to contact a discarnate being, I was able to speak to my father – my wonderful, loving father – who died six years ago. He said he was lonely because he’s waiting for the arrival of my mother, who is 94 and I know, eager to reunite with him. Mon dieu. Truly, this Soul Healing is a crucial step for every person who seeks freedom and enlightenment.

All negative past life trauma must be cleared in preparation for Ascension. This stuck past life energy is carried in the emotional subtle body located next to the physical body and will also cause symptoms of disease if not cleared. This negative karma must be cleared and healed before Ascension. This can be a job for many lifetimes if one is fortunate to have the right circumstances and teachers, but now – in these crucial times leading up to the Ascension period of late-2012/2013 – it can be cleared in just minutes through the Karmic Clearing command that is included during the private Soul Healing session (conducted by conference telephone call) administered by Carolyn Evers and Richard Presser. More information can be found at the Soul Healing site.

Stephen Fry: The Catholic Church is Not a Force For Good in the World – 45th Edition

I have featured a video featuring Stephen Fry’s discourse about the Catholic Church at the section of Trans4mind called ‘Religion Doesn’t Have a Prayer.’ Stephen Fry has been one of my favorite people for many years. I’ve read all his books and watched most of his shows. But this video was a complete surprise. Not surprising that Fry was so articulate and mindful but that he shared my views on fundamentalist Christianity. And how he did it: what cool, what courage, what a man!

Freedom to Change – 44th Edition

Current events have demonstrated a tremendous desire, on the behalf of perhaps the majority of people in the world, for peace in their lives. They are no longer satisfied with the mentality of political conflict, which endangers economic progress and human rights and freedoms. But most importantly, I feel that many people are now aware that if we want peace in the world, first we need to make peace with our own lives. It is human nature that needs to change, and we are capable of making such a transformation.

Our experience in the world reflects our inner state – yes, this is a kind of magic but that is the reality, the world is miraculous. I have seen so much evidence of this when I – or a student or client – have made a genuine shift in our belief system that resolves an inner conflict, then very soon our real-world circumstances change accordingly. We mirror our internal state – our resistance/fear and acceptance/love – in our personal life experience. As a group we mirror our consciousness in world events. It is our personal responsibility to become aware of our contribution to the group consciousness, to help create a world with more opportunities for ourselves and our loved ones – which ultimately means for everyone.

So what wars do we wage inside? The purposes and goals that we hold dearly – some we may have brought into this life or felt most strongly as a child or young person – are often compromised in the face of problems that we discover in trying to achieve them, and we may forget about them (actually suppress them) and opt for safer solutions. Playing the safe game is a sad conflict with the game we really (still) want to play. We have become someone else, a substitute for our true self. Reinforcing this position are the attachments we have come to cling on to, the fears we may have of losing control of our safe space, the resistance we feel against elements of change, and the judgments we make that prevent acceptance of what is.

To better our position, to be able to open up our space and express our true desires, we first need to come to terms with our situation. Our true nature is an expression of love and that is the quality that we need first to rediscover in our consciousness.

Before we can contribute, through our consciousness, toward peace in the world we need to make peace with ourselves. Before we can love others unconditionally we need to be able to genuinely love ourselves. Before we can forgive and cease making judgments of others we need to learn how to forgive ourselves and warmly accept ourselves just as we are.

If we can forgive ourselves then we can more easily forgive others. If we do not feel able to forgive others then we clearly have not learned to love ourselves. And the irony is, when we do truly love ourselves, we and others will not even need any forgiveness, because we are able to accept the past, present and future as it is, without judgment. Our creation. Discrimination – of good/bad, right/wrong, ugly/beautiful – is not part of the vocabulary of love.

Are we all born equal?
The short answer: yes, but not the same, not by a long chalk.

All persons have the same qualitative make-up; we are born equal in this respect, as recognized in the values of ‘Equality, Fraternity & Brotherhood.’ All human beings have the same reflexes, instincts, drives, needs, capacities, and rights; all have the same powers of perception, discrimination, attentiveness, retentiveness, reasoning, and so forth.

The differences between persons are quantitative rather than qualitative. ‘Equality’ is to do with our qualities, that we all share, but not the degree to which they are developed.

Behavioral psychology has installed the idea that we inherit all of our traits, and besides the modifying effects of cultural conditioning that we stay basically the same as our genetic hard-wiring dictates. That’s true if you don’t do anything about making positive change, if you don’t recognize the aspects of yourself that are more than animal. Recently many have recognized this possibility and they are looking for valid information that can help them make positive changes.

We each differ in the degree of our various spiritual, mental, emotional and physical abilities, and in the manner in which the amounts of the various traits combine in our individuality. A wide range of aptitude, personality, learning and intelligence tests will show differences as high as 25:1 from person to person, with a characteristic bell-shaped distribution curve, in much the same way as physical characteristics are varied.

It is these quantities, which are such an important factor in personal competence, creativity and ultimately our success in life, that personal development aims to increase. It is through our differences that we are able to express our individuality and achieve unique goals.

Fortunately it is possible to develop our skills, talents, maturity and intelligence to high degrees, using appropriate techniques. For example, there are effective mind development courses available to develop the faculties of vision, communication, concentration and will, learning and reading skills, logic, memory, intuition and creativity.

I feel that it is a mistake to belittle the differences between individuals due to a fear of being seen as judgmental or non-accepting of a person who has little of certain qualities. It is much better to be realistic (which is truly to be non-judgmental and accepting) and recognize the strength and weakness of our various qualities. Then we can take advantage of the opportunities that are available to develop and improve ourselves, toward the goal of fulfilling our potential.

Freedom to change
Implicit in any concept of learning is the notion of change. If we open our minds to discovering and learning new information, we change some part of ourselves: our attitude, behavior, values, assumptions, or perhaps the amount of knowledge we have. The change may mean a rejection or an alteration of previously accepted beliefs or behavior, or it may mean an expansion or extension of them.

Change is often perceived as frightening as it threatens to rob us of the safety and legitimacy of our personal, often cherished, position and boundaries – especially since maintaining this safe space has helped us to survive as well as we have up to now (even if that’s not as well as we could do).

When change is demanded by another person or new circumstances, we tend to feel threatened, defensive and perhaps rushed. The new learning is not perceived as something desirable and of our own choosing. Pressure to change, without an opportunity for exploration and choice, seldom results in experiences of joy and excitement in learning.

To turn this around, we need to be proactive in our learning, to expand our knowledge and abilities in advance of forced changes of circumstance. If there’s one thing guaranteed in our lives it is that change will be upon us, sooner or later; usually sooner. If we are open to change, and are willing to learn whatever is necessary to predict and adapt to it, we can even become its master and control its direction. Self-directed learning is therefore key to mastery over life and to the creation of the life that we want.

The above passage is drawn from my ebook Daring to be Yourself. The book is based on principles which have helped thousands of people, endorsed by experts over the centuries. The ebook (available as a downloadable digital file) intersperses theoretical understanding mixed with practical exercises throughout, to help you uncover the barriers to self-knowledge and freedom of expression and action.

Part One, Getting Started, looks at some basic principles of happiness and some tips to start making your life more self-directed and fulfilling.

Part Two, Background Psychology, is a summary of the broad streams of psychological thought that are the context and source of the personal development techniques that follow in the book.

Part Three, Communication & Relationships, comprises a short course to improve communication skills. Communication is the solvent of all problems and is a foundation for personal development.

Part Four, A Positive Approach, is a set of personal development principles and exercises that I have found to be particularly effective over the years, both as a psychotherapist and in teaching many students around the world on our courses. Based on the Positive Approach course you’ll find on this site, the book takes this a step further to provide a powerful path for your forward growth.

Part Five, Achieving Goals, gives the key tools you need for creating the life that you most desire.

Part Six, Background Psychology II, sets the stage for more advanced work on self-development, leading into the transpersonal realm of enhanced spiritual awareness.

Part Seven, Going Beyond, concentrates on the spiritual dimension of personal growth.

Human nature is universal, something we all share. But that doesn’t mean human nature cannot further evolve; indeed it must, to meet the needs of Mankind’s present situation, where a greater degree of peaceful cooperation, reform and justice is critical for our future survival and prosperity.

Most of us just struggle on. We do everything bar change our minds. Only a few realize that the path of personl growth means changing ourselves. Those who have this realization – and act on it – gain what others can only dream about. All you have to lose is whatever stands in your way. Nothing will change unless you do.

No one need accept that they must remain as they were shaped by their hereditary body-mind and by the conditioning of their childhood and culture. Each of us can evolve consciously by undertaking our own path of personal development, according to our individual needs, weaknesses and strengths. To make a really good start, the Daring to Be Yourself ebook covers a range of key personal development topics and most people will benefit from increasing their knowledge and abilities in these areas.

The key is to take what you learn and put it into practice in your daily life. To change the engrained habits of a lifetime, and even to change the nature programmed into your genes, is possible but it will take your determined application, over and over again, to reprogram your mind and transform yourself.

Remember, the guide on your path is your own true inner nature, your connection with the universal, and that is LOVE. Love is unconditional acceptance. At all times ask yourself, “Am I doing / thinking / saying this in love?” and you will not go far wrong.

“Why do we find so many books attempting to guide and aid us in locating the answers to our search for self-knowledge and truth? Could it be the style of communication many authors use may not connect with all of us?

“I believe this to be the case because in reading Peter Shepherd’s marvelously insightful and educationally researched work, I felt as if I were sharing an awareness building conversation with a cherished friend. The compassion within the writing style made me experience that rare moment-out-of-time emotion where information connects with personal observation and first hand dealings. This is the ignition of “creation,” and without judgment, Peter Shepherd offers psychological cornerstones mixed with the validation to choose the path that suits you – not the “you” categorized by others but the you deep inside who has preferences and a magnetic yearning to travel a certain direction.

“The techniques and methods for highlighting our individual wake-up call are simply stated and easy to undertake. What a delight to feel the presence of company along the path that draws us to change. I’m at home on my new course.” –Becky Reed

Re-Wiring the Soul – 43th Edition

Dr. Gabriella Kortsch produces a wonderful radio show each week called Re-Wiring the Soul… “This is a show that aims at real talk about how to make a difference in your life. How to improve your life. How to better understand why you are the way you are and help yourself grow far beyond that. This means that we focus not only on your psyche, your mind, your emotions, and your body, but also on your spirit and your soul.”

The show’s archive contains many emminent leaders and researchers, healers and practitioners – a lot of fascinating material and Gabriella, who has a great mind herself, draws the best out of them. Last week Gabriella kindly asked me to appear on the show. I enjoyed it tremendously, I hope you will too…

Looking back to previous shows, the guests she interviews are a fascinating bunch. It’s well worth putting the show’s RSS feed into your newsreader or browser bookmarks.

What’s been happening at Trans4mind – 42th Edition

Not having posted for ages, it may seem all is quiet on the Trans4mind front. In fact, it’s the opposite, I’ve just been too wrapped up in our new projects to step back and write about them…

Anna and Brad Swift of the Life On Purpose Institute have begun a free personal coaching service at Trans4mind, to answer a key question you have relating to purpose in your life, and to coach you through to greater clarity and motivation. Please do take advantage of the wisdom these two exceptional people have to offer.

A recent site addition is Maurice Turmel’s Conscious Evolution section, also described as “A Lightworker’s Guide to Personal Growth.” This combines fictional dialogue, the beautiful monochrome images of Monica Yakiwchuk, alongside appropriate philosophical writings by Maurice. It’s an inspiring and insightful read.

In the ezine, Cultivate Life! we have just commenced a 40-part series, ending in Autumn 2012, by Carolyn Evers. The series will then be widely released in Dec 2012 as a freely available ebook, so as many people as possible will understand how they can participate in the Ascension – the transformation of the human race to become guided by and one with Unconditional Love in nature and being. Whether or not things change dramatically at that specific date, or if a more gradual evolution occurs, Mankind needs a change of human nature to break the endless cycle of violence, greed, envy, abuse of power and short memories. This ongoing series is intended to be a helpful and insightful manual in that direction.

Later this year, Carolyn and friends are visiting France to uncover ancient manuscripts left behind by Mary Magdalene, and being local, Nicole and I will help with that in any way we can.

The biggest activity surrounds the Trans4mind Network- this is the expansion of Trans4mind into multiple languages, each hosted on its own domain and run by a Service Provider who we have selected and trained, so the result in each case is true to the Trans4mind brand and ethos. Not surprisingly, perhaps, the service providers who have come forward are an incredible bunch of people, with wide-ranging experience, abilities and talents to contribute, and organizing the network is turning out to be a delightful experience. Wallace Huey is the Network Director, and I keep an eye on things and also help with technical support for the service providers. We already cover a lot of the globe, as you can see on the Network page, and by a couple of years time I think everyone in the world will have access to good information and coaching to assist their personal growth. In many countries this kind of service is non-existent and the help Trans4mind can provide is much needed.

An Invitation
If you are fluent in another language other than English, have a good understanding of personal development and like working on the computer, and if your life purpose would be fulfilled by being of service in this way, we invite you to join our World Vision and participate by becoming a Trans4mind Service Provider in a language of your choice. Alternatively you may wish to become a contributor to an existing Trans4mind website in your native language. As the directors of Trans4mind, Wallace Huey and I will support you in doing this.

The Trans4mind vision is not about money; not about sleaze; not about dogma nor persuasion… the values behind very many sites on the Internet. Instead, Trans4mind is about Love.

Participation in the Network is about sharing a global vision of unity and peace. It’s a demonstration of universal values, of loving service for the benefit of Mankind. The aim is to help transform human consciousness and therefore the quality of life for millions of people, at this crucial stage in the evolution of our planet. That is the life purpose that Trans4mind service providers share. As you can imagine, it’s thrilling and a tremendous privilege to be working with such a great team of people, and if you feel inspired to contribute your energy and talents, you will be most welcome.

The Trans4mind Buddy Service: Liftoff! – 41th Edition

This new service was launched last week in Cultivate Life! and already we have about 100 members! This number is important as the members have fortunately chosen life challenges that range widely across those available, so that there are nearly always other members matching your top priority life challenge when you do a buddy search. And we have six Guides, to help members find resources at Trans4mind.

So now is a great time to start using the service: to meet interesting people and give each other mutual help and support. If possible, please upload a picture of yourself – it’s so much better to know what a member looks like!

The service has proved solid and reliable, thanks to the great work done by our programmer, Ken Ward. Nevertheless, we have refined the program quite a lot over the last week, based on user feedback. It’s easier and smoother to use. Remember, this is a safe and secure service: that has been our number one priority. Your email address is not made public and only becomes known to a member you have chosen to contact, and from that point on the emails between you are normal personal emails, totally separate from the Buddy Service. Plus – and you won’t find this anywhere else! – there are no promotions nor advertising connected with the service whatsoever.

The idea is to share experiences and ideas for moving forward – with the help of Trans4mind resources such as the Whole Person Handbook – and to support each other, to the point that you both master the life challenge you have in common, and share your insights with others if you wish. Hopefully then, as friends, you can move on to further challenges.

Imagine the value of being able to share what you are learning from all our Trans4mind resources and services with someone who is facing the same life challenges as yourself! And to support each other as you put your insights into practice!
